Dave The Diver has been considered one of the biggest indie game success stories of 2023, and now Mintroket, the team behind the well-received pixel art fishing and management simulation game, is turning its attention to a very different project: a third-person PvPvE zombie stealth survival game in the vein of DayZ. Previously revealed in September, Nakwon: Last Paradise will open its doors to players for a pre-alpha playtest starting on November 29 and ending on December 3.
In Nakwon: Last Paradise, players must survive a post-apocalyptic version of Seoul, South Korea, which means few guns will be available. Instead, they’ll have to use stealth, intelligence, and, when all else fails, melee weapons. The game will be played in a PvPvE environment, which seems intended to give it the same uneasy alliance element of a game like DayZ, where every human player you encounter can be friend or foe. Along with the playtest news, here’s this 20-minute gameplay video showcasing the gameplay in progress.

Now playing: NAKWON: LAST PARADISE – Official Gameplay Trailer
The game also features a fetch gameplay loop that’s akin to something like Escape from Tarkov, Call of Duty’s DMZ, or Vigor, where they’ll enter the city with other players, loot as best they can, then will try to escape with their loot – and their lives.
Mintroket says this first pre-alpha playtest will be available via the game’s Steam page and will be free for anyone who wants to sign up, with no restrictions on how many players can play. Additional playtesting is also planned, although no further details are available on this at this time. Players who wish to give their opinion or follow the game more closely are also invited to join the Nakwon Discord server. As of now, only PC has been revealed as the platform for Nakwon.
