Authorities arrested Ruby Franke and her business partner, Julie Hildebrandt, in Ivins, Utah, after Franke’s 12-year-old son climbed out a window and ran toward a neighbor’s house, looking for food and water. According to News, the neighbor, who noticed duct tape around the child’s ankles and wrists, called the police. Police arrived on scene and followed the evidence to a nearby home, finding another juvenile also affected. Authorities took both individuals to the hospital for treatment.

Ruby Franke and Hildebrandt face 15 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines per count of child abuse. Currently, both defendants are behind bars since their arrest.
