The trailer for Tuesday gives a better insight into what to expect and the emotional rollercoaster that audiences are in for. It highlights moments of laughter and lightness between mother and daughter and heartbreaking moments of intimacy. The appearance of Death in the form of a macaw with a large scar across one eye initially intimidates the main character on Tuesday, but she learns that it also has an interesting effect on him once they begin to talk to each other.

Tuesday is a fantasy drama centered on Zora, a single mother, and her terminally ill daughter, Tuesday. The two are extremely close to each other, and Zora tries to keep a stoic appearance in the face of Tuesday’s inevitable death, for the sake of her daughter. On Tuesday, she requires full-time intensive care as her condition worsens, afflicting Zora with pre-grief as she struggles to imagine a future without her daughter in her life.

One day, Tuesday is approached by a large, tattered Scarlett macaw. In her presence, he shrinks to the size of a mouse, allowing her to hold him. Tuesday soon learns that the magical parrot is actually the incarnation of Death, and the two quickly strike up a friendship. Death shrinks even further so he can hide in Tuesday’s ear and have private conversations with her about life, loss, guilt, and grief. Eventually, she convinces him to make his presence known to Zora, who must finally acknowledge the fact that her daughter has (literally) spoken and is moving closer to death. Kind of like A24’s Oscar-winning drama The whale(which also touched on similar themes of love, loss, guilt and grief between a parent and child), Tuesday is a film that should probably be watched with a few tissues handy.

The official synopsis of Tuesday from A24 reads:
