OpenAI turmoil leaves some CIOs wondering about the future of AI power

Some information executives are questioning the viability of ChatGPT creator OpenAI following the unexpected ouster of CEO Sam Altman on Friday, his subsequent hiring by Microsoft and the unresolved threat of hundreds of OpenAI workers from resign and follow him there.

“The long-term viability of any platform is important when making a decision,” said Todd Florence, chief information officer of Estes Express Lines, a trucker based in Richmond, Virginia. “Friday certainly calls that into question when it comes to OpenAI.”
