The film stars Paul Dano as Keith Gill AKA Roaring Kitty AKA DFV, the daytrader whose posts on the wallstreetbets subreddit helped inspire the movement in the first place. Dumb Money is directed by Craig Gillespie, who previously directed I, Tonya, Pam & Tommy and the Disney film Cruella. The film is based on the book The Antisocial Network by Ben Mezrich. It was the third major film based on one of his books, the previous two being The Social Network and 21. Mezrich’s latest book, Breaking Twitter, is about Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter.
