Fortnite has set a date for its next big live event – the first in a full year – now officially named The Big Bang.
This is the moment when Fortnite will move away from its current OG look, which saw an all-time high engagement with the return of the game’s original map, and into something entirely new.
The Big Bang will take place live in Fortnite on Saturday, December 2 at 7 p.m. UK time (that’s 2 p.m. Eastern or 11 a.m. Pacific), with leaks online suggesting that a big star of the music will make a surprise appearance in the game.

“This event marks a new beginning for Fortnite,” Epic Games’ description of the event teases. Indeed, the name of the event suggests some sort of reworking or reversal of the original map’s previous apocalyptic event featuring a black hole.
Rather than sucking it all up, then, it seems like an act of creation – and in the official artwork for the event, we can see the game’s original space rocket and battle bus exploding outwards.
Alongside these are some other curious items – which fans believe hint at other new modes coming to the game in the near future.
Fortnite and Lego announced plans to collaborate a while ago, and leaks suggest it’s just around the corner, with survival and creation modes similar to Minecraft. A rather Lego-like llama appears in the artwork.
The image also shows a racing wheel, a guitar and a microphone, likely hinting at the other modes that fans believe will be launching soon: a musical offering from Rock Band studio Harmonix and a racing game from the creator of Rocket League , Psyonix.
But perhaps most surprisingly, the music star is also expected to make an appearance at the event. The datamined details revealed this person – which we’ll display below if you prefer to remain intact.

It will also feature Eminem, LEGO, rhythm mode and race mode. Here is the OFFICIAL image pic.twitter.com/AtsNIwpSMR

Yes, Eminem appears to be making an appearance in Fortnite soon, with an in-game character skin already spotted by fans. Fortnite is of course no stranger to the presence of big music stars in its events (like Ariana Grande) and loves celebrity surprises (like The Rock finally being unmasked during the game’s Island-flipping live event ago a few years).
How will this all play out? There are less than two weeks until we find out.
And in other Fortnite news, Epic Games has now announced that it will remove cosmetic checking for the “majority” of in-game items starting with the game’s next big update, while working on a better and better solution. more permanent.
Fortnite controversially introduced age ratings into its game modes last week and blocked the use of certain cosmetics in some user-created modes, sparking fan fury as players suddenly found themselves unable to use the skins they had purchased. Although the game’s next big update comes directly after The Big Bang, Epic Games has also stated that there will be no age restrictions on cosmetics for this event as well.
We hear your feedback and are back with more information
Until we have a long-term solution, cosmetic control will be disabled for the majority of cosmetics, starting with update v28.00.
And you’ll be able to use any cosmetic during our next big in-game event.
