Bain Capital Bank invests $7 billion in buyouts in Asia

Bain Capital has raised $7.1 billion for its latest deal-focused buyout fund in Asia, bucking the trend as private equity fundraising slows globally.

The Boston firm said it raised 40% more than the $5 billion target for the vehicle, Bain Capital Asia Fund V. This amount includes Bain Capital’s commitment of $750 million, or 15% of more than the amount the firm invested in its fourth Asian fund. The new pool is also 53% larger than its predecessor, which the company closed for $4.65 billion in 2018.
